How To Get A 100% Return On Your Advertising Dollars

If you are an independent professional or a small business, you are already spending money on advertising. Maybe at the low end you spend $1000 per month on ads or Pay-Per-Click. If you are a medium-sized business, you may spend $10,000 to $20,000 in advertising online or in major trade magazines just so you can generate some leads.

I like people who are open to "Thinking Differently." What if you changed your thinking for a minute, "Would you be open to a new concept?" This article is about being open and seeing opportunity from a different perspective. What if a small local business started to issue or print it's own currency or voucher and either traded this with local media or just gave it out to the local community.

Think about it for a moment. You could very well issue twice as many vouchers as the current $1000 per month you're currently spending. This immediately doubles your advertising spend...aka "purchasing power."

Next, you could trade your vouchers with a local newspaper, radio station, or other media. The media just might give you airtime or the media may give you some print space in return. It's called "bartering your services."

Now remember, since you are paying in vouchers, the vouchers can only be redeemed at your place of business. This means that whoever uses the voucher must use it at your place of business for it to be valid. This is what is commonly called "recycled advertising." Your advertising dollars just went back into your pocket. You just got a 100% return on your advertising dollars. How's that for a radical new concept? In my humble opinion, this is better than pay-per-click advertising, because in pay-per-click advertising you are only paying for a lead. Pay-per-click is simply pay-per-lead. There is no guarantee that lead will turn into revenue dollars. With the "barter" method, you are paying for a sale! Big difference, "Wouldn't you say?"

You will only be paying for the portion of advertising that is generating results. I like to call it "results-based-advertising," or "pay-per-sale advertising." Is that not the way advertising should be? Doing it this way, you will ensure that every dollar you spend on advertising is coming straight back into your business. This, my friend, is the power of barter trade. It has been around for hundreds of years.

To make this concept work for you, here are two rules you should adhere to:

  • Find out what you have to offer

  • Find out who needs what you have to offer

Good luck and happy bartering.
