A Burning Desire (The Starting Point For All Achievement)

Developing a white hot burning desire for the attainment of a goal is one of the prerequisites of its eventual achievement. Yet some, no matter how hard they try, can't seem to work up that kind of intense passion for a goal. Is this a problem you have? Do you feel frustrated when you read books or articles stating that a burning desire is the starting point of all achievement and yet you can't seem to ignite the flame of desire for a definite object? If you answered yes to these questions, don't be upset. You're not alone. All of us at one time or another had trouble creating that burning desire inside. But we need this passion in our lives, because in the long run, we only get what we truly desire. A desire makes you reach higher, aspire further and push harder to get the things you want out of life. You can accomplish anything in life if you have the burning desire to get it. But how to develop that kind of desire? That is the main question and fortunately, there are ways to do just that. It takes some effort, some persistence and constant practice on your part, but if you follow these four principles, a burning desire for your goals can and will be a part of your life.

The Four Keys to Creating a Burning Desire

1. Visualization - You must create a sustained and lasting picture of the thing you want. Constant picturing or visualization is the first key to the attainment of your desires. Nothing has ever existed that wasn't first thought of in the mind and since we think in pictures, this is the most important step to master in the creation and fulfillment of a burning desire. 2. Affirmations - Back in the early part of the 20th century, French psychologist Dr. Emile Coue proved that repeated affirmations have a profound effect on human behavior and actions. Affirmations of your desires combined with visualization make a potent pair in creating that burning desire needed to succeed. Make sure your affirmations are stated in the present tense with emotion. 3. Controlled Focus - Concentration is the third key to creating a burning desire. You must give all your attention to one thing at a time. When it's time to work, go to work and when it's time to play, don't think about anything but playing. There's an old saying that goes, "it's better to complete one worthwhile goal than to begin ten others." When it comes to creating a burning desire for your goal - focus on that goal only. If you do, success is practically assured. [endif]

4. Relationships - This is the hardest key to get under control because of family and friends. Your own family can de-motivate you and even though their intentions may be honorable, it can have a dramatic effect on your life. Associate with individuals who are positive and encouraging. While you don't want to announce your goals to everyone, there are associates that can keep you motivated when things aren't going well. Cultivate those types of friendships. There you have it. The four keys to creating a burning desire are now yours. What you do with them and how you use them are totally under your control. Practice them and develop your burning desire - the starting point of all achievement.
